Verdict
The GT-Air 3 doesn't reinvent anything, it just refines an already class-leading touring helmet. If you're doing big motorway miles or A-road weekends, it's the one to beat.
What we like
- Noticeably quieter than the GT-Air 2 at motorway speeds
- Deeper drop-down sun visor with anti-fog coating
- Sena SRL3 intercom slots in without ruining the shell shape
- Excellent Pinlock EVO included in the box
What we don't
- Heavier than a pure sport helmet at around 1,600g
- Premium price, especially in graphics
- Chin curtain still fiddly to refit after cleaning
On the road
Shoei has focused on the two things touring riders actually care about, wind noise and long-distance comfort. New chin curtain geometry and a re-shaped neck roll cut a genuine couple of decibels versus the outgoing GT-Air 2.
