Santa Cruz Nomad 6

Santa Cruz's iconic enduro sled goes mixed-wheel and gets a longer, slacker, harder-hitting attitude.

Verdict

For UK bike-park regulars, the Nomad 6 is a near-perfect balance between all-mountain playfulness and full-blooded downhill capability.

What we like

  • MX wheels transform corner exit speed
  • 170mm rear travel with brilliant support mid-stroke
  • Lifetime bearing warranty is genuinely useful

What we don't

  • Overkill for anywhere flat
  • Reserve-wheel builds push the price hard

On the trail

At BikePark Wales the Nomad 6 shrugs off the hardest lines on Vicious Valley and stays composed at speed on Terry's Belly. The MX rear wheel is a real difference maker in tight, off-camber Welsh corners.

Climbing

For a 170mm bike it climbs remarkably well. The VPP linkage keeps the rear end from bobbing under power and the seat angle sits you in a genuinely efficient position.
