Verdict
Still the tyre we'd fit to almost any road bike in Britain. Confidence in the wet, mileage in the dry, and warm-up times that suit our climate.
What we like
- Outstanding wet grip, even on cold, greasy A-roads
- Consistent feel from mile one, no long scrub-in
- Longer mileage than the outgoing Road 5
What we don't
- GT variants only really needed for heavy tourers
- Sport riders may still prefer the Power series on hot track days
Wet-weather performance
Michelin's new water-evacuation grooves make a real difference on standing water. Braking distances in the wet are meaningfully shorter than the Road 5.
