Verdict
The best cycling GPS you can buy, and the first Edge that finally feels like a modern smartphone in the way it looks and responds.
What we like
- Stunning HD touchscreen, readable in direct sun
- Group Ride LiveTrack and Messaging are properly useful
- Built-in bell, hazard alerts and rider-to-rider messaging
What we don't
- Battery life a step down from the Edge 1040 Solar
- Expensive against wahoo alternatives
Screen and interface
The new screen is genuinely a generation ahead of the Edge 1040. Colours pop, maps are legible even in low winter sun, and the interface responds like a modern phone rather than a satnav from a decade ago.
