Why E5 matters to bikers
E10 has been the standard unleaded grade at forecourts in Great Britain since September 2021. The "10" means it can contain up to ten per cent ethanol, up from five per cent in the old E5 grade.
Many older motorcycles, classics and some small-capacity engines aren't cleared for E10. The government's advice is simple: check the manufacturer's guidance using the official E10 compatibility checker.
